It has been the aim of the ”GREEN Catalogue” project (where G.R.E.E.N. is also an acronym of Global Renewable Energy Efficient Neighbourhoods) to develop a catalogue or manual with a definition of performance indicators and performance requirements/recommendations for best practice technologies in the area of Rational Use of Energy (RUE) and Renewable Energy Systems (RES) in buildings. A working group of experienced partners concerning practical use of RUE and RES in buildings has here received a feedback concerning 32 different building related technologies from 180-200 producers, builders, cities, energy offices and energy companies in 10 different EU-countries.

GREEN Catalogue includes both proposed energy saving standards for building technologies as well as for building projects, based on a system with a reference standard (REF), an improved standard compared to this (energy+), a further improved standard (energy++) and the best available quality (BAT).
For building projects realised before and after January 2006 this can e.g. be delivered as:
|
|
Energy (+)* |
Energy (++)** |
BAT |

Proposed 2006 standard |
Proposed 2011 standard |
Passive house standard |

Proposed 2016 standard |
Passive house standard in connection to CO2 neutral building. |

*: Energy (+) should also include: |
Use of Green Build Questionnaire with energy and environmental points. |
Adapted energy supply solution with reduced losses. |
Control of energy qualities and energy supply solution by independent energy specialist organisation / allocation of ½% - 1% of the building costs for this. |

**: Energy (++) includes besides energy (+) demands: |
Use of renewable energy solutions e.g. solar energy for domestic hot water or ventilation. |
