Measurements in Austria – Salzburg to implement the EPD – standards
In Salzburg the government has decided to install a working group of experts to check what has to be done to implement the EPD in the normal building laws and what would be necessary to reach the Kyoto-target.
This working group has finished the first report and now it is discussed about this, but not yet decided anything.
The results shall be discussed in the government of the federal state of Salzburg and then there will be a decision which parts shall be included in the building laws or other ordinances.
The parts of building laws, and social housing funding are in the responsibility of the federal state of Salzburg. Because of this we have nine different building laws and nine different measurements about the EPD in Austria.

About the implementation of the EPD in the standards of insulation there are just very small corrections necessary because we have a rather young “Wärmeschutzverordnung” with good insulation standards.
The paper of the working group suggests to force to renovation in really good standards and to force the change of heating material from oil to biomass – to reach the Kyoto target.
They say that the country of Salzburg is able to reach the target by make a fuel-change for about 40.000 dwellings.
